The NYTimes has an interesting article on the various uses of the Junxion Box that allows those who have a celluar internet account to share their connection with others.
For photographers, especially those that cover news or events, this
could mean solving quite a few problems. For example, say you are at an
event for a publication, and there is more than one shooter. Instead of
everyone having to get their own separate internet connections through
either satellite or celluar networks, which are incredibly expensive,
the Junxion Box acts like a splitter and allows multiple
computers/cameras to use one internet connection. This cuts down on the
cost of transmitting images and allows for a simpler setup.
But don't wait long as in the article, Verizon and others who have
spent upwards of a $1 Billion to setup their networks aren't too happy
with this setup and thus we might see it disappear. But in the
meantime, it is here and should be taken advantage of.
